COVID UPDATE: Eleven passengers who arrived on Rajdhani Express tests positive, active tally touches 50

Panaji: Total eleven passengers who had arrived from Rajdhani Express train in Goa on Saturday have tested positive for  COVID-19 infection, taking the tally of active number of cases in the coastal state to 50.

A senior health department official said that 263 passengers who had alighted at Madgaon Railway Station on Saturday by Rajdhani Express were tested, of which eleven were found to be positive during TrueNat (rapid) testing.

“When the test was repeated again at Goa Medical College and Hospital’s virology lab, the results continued to be positive,” he said.

All the eleven passengers including a five year old boy have been shifted to ESI hospital in Margao, which is designated facility to treat COVID-19 patients.

With the latest addition, the total number of active cases in Goa has touched 50 with state testing 12,000-odd samples till date.
