COVID 3rd wave preparation: Goa BJP Medical Cell to train 3000 karyakartas as healthcare professionals

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)- Medical Cell, Goa State has undertaken the initiative of National health volunteer campaign. Under this program, approximately 3000 party workers shall be trained to volunteer as health workers to assist the state in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

The mandal level training workshops have been successfully conducted in Valpoi, Parye, Panaji, Taleigao, St. Crux, St. Andre, Aldona, Bicholim, Mayem, Sakhali, Murgao, Vasco and Dabolim constituencies.
In total 895 volunteers two each from each booth level from 13 constituencies in the state of goa have been trained so far on basic SOP for Covid-19 including immune building measures and preparedness for third wave of Covid.
The volunteers are trained by eminent doctors from Goa and are expected to be a bridge between patient and doctors /hospital to ensure Covid positive patients are provided all types of assistance and information, the volunteers were also trained on how to record vitals like temperature and oxygen concentration as well as provide counselling to the patient.
The campaign is getting huge support from BJP leaders. 22 doctors were trained at state level the workshop conducted on August 7 than 125 volunteers were trained on August 15 and mandal level training was started from August 20 in Valpoi and Parye which was attended by 176 volunteers. Shri Vishwajit Rane, Health Minister of the state presided over the function and encouraged the volunteers, while the workshops held on August 22 in Bicholim, Sankhali and Mayem was attended by Shri Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister and Shri Rajesh Patnekar, Speaker of assembly.
Around 154 volunteers were imparted training, Shri Glen Ticlo inaugurated the workshop in Aldona, 75 volunteers were trained, the workshop conducted at Vasco and Murgao was inaugurated by Shri Milind Naik and 118 volunteers were trained, 46 volunteers were trained in Dabolim and the function was attended by Shri Mauvin Godinho, the training workshop conducted at Taleigao, St. Crux, St. Andre saw a attendance of 179 volunteers. Other constituencies will start training sessions from Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will complete by September 4.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, Incharge of the Medical cell Goa State opined that the training program initiated in Goa from August 15, 2021 is part of the national level campaign under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and with guidance of National party president J. P Nadda. Volunteers across all 40 constituencies in the state shall be trained by end of August. The campaign is being successfully conducted by Dr Sneha Bhagwat, Co-Incharge and Shri Siddharth Kuncalienker, Coordinator.
