COVID-19: Second highest spike, 94 new cases on Friday

PANAJI: Goa witnessed second highest spike in COVID-19 cases on Friday with 94 new people testing positive for the infection, taking the totally tally to more than 1,500 mark.

State Health department said on Friday that 94 new infections were detected in the state while 38 people had cured of COVID-19. The total number of cases are 1576 of which 800 are active people who are being treated at different covidcare centres set up across the state.

Out of 3320 samples tested on Friday, 2609 are negative while 617 reports are awaited, the bulletin reads.

The areas around Vasco town continued to be COVID-19 hotspot with Mangor Hill locality which has been declared as Containment Zone has reported 245 cases in total while 238 more people received infection from this area.

The areas of Sada, Baina, New Vaddem, Zuarinagar and Kharewada which are surrounding Vasco town also witnessed fresh cases.
