COVID-19: Major spike as reports 523 new infections on Friday

Panaji: In a major spike reported on Friday, Goa recorded 523 fresh cases of COVID-19 infection taking the tally to 16,006, health department said.

The official said that 429 patients were discharged from various facilities taking the number of such patients to 12,296.

The state recorded four deaths due to COVID-19 infection on Friday  taking the total tally of deaths to 175.

A 59-year-old woman, a 84-year-old woman, 70-year-old male and 53-year-old male succumbed to the infection during the day.

On Friday, State government has decided to spruce up its attempts to encourage people, who have recovered from COVID-19 infection, to donate their plasma. The state government has decided to hold special drive to encourage people to come ahead and join the drive.
