Panaji:  Congress party in Goa on Friday protested against the central governemnt’s decision towards holding NEET examinations amidst COVID19 outbreak in the country. The party leaders held demonstrations at Margao city of South Goa.

Addressing the protestors, Goa Pradesh Congress committee President Girish Chodankar said that the insensitive BJP Government headed by arrogant Narendra Modi who has no sensitivity towards children and family life is all out to put the young students in the death trap of Covid19 and hence are hell bent of holding the exams when the Covid situation in the country is horrible with almost  33,92,000 positive cases and over 62,000 deaths.

He said that the government is exposing over 25 lakh students with another 25 lakhs parents in this pandemic situation to the Corona virus by making them travel across various States.

Chodanakar said that the students who are already under stress  will have to travel hundreds of kilometers with no public transport available and non-availability of lodging/hotel facilities.

GPCC General Secretary Subhash Phaldesai said that BJP govt should listen to students and understand their concerns. “Government must make alternate arrangements by consulting the experts in the field of education,” he added.

The protests were held as a part of nationwide call given by All India Congress Committee against holding of NEET examination. The matter is before the Supreme Court.

NSUI Goa unit President Ahraz Mulla announced that he will go on indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan if the government fails to reconsider the decision of holding examination in Covid pandemic situation.
