The first major case of infection in this constituency was reported when former Sankhalim MLA and ex-Health Minister Dr Suresh Amonkar had to be shifted to ESI hospital after detecting positive for COVID-19 infection.

“The health conditions of Amonkar is stable now. He is being treated at ESI hospital,” Sawant told reporters on Monday.
