Panaji: Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai launched the Mashaal for the upcoming National Games which would be held in Goa later during the year.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik and others were present for the event that was held at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, near here.
Sawant said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be inaugurating the upcoming National Games on October 25 or 26, 2023.
The Governor lit the Mashaal for the national games and also released the Anthem, which is sung by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
This would be for the first time that Goa will be hosting the National Games, the chief minister said appealing all the people to take advantage of this opportunity.
He said that while sportsmen can participate in these games, other citizens are contribute towards these games by becoming spectators supporting their favourite player or team.
Sawant said that it is not about winning or losing, but participation in these games is more crucial.
The chief minister said that the Mashaal that was lit today will travel across the state and also in other states creating awareness about this event.
