Panaji: Congress party in Goa on Tuesday said that they would meet Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik on the recent development surrounding Mahadayi river.

Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday wrote to Karnataka government clarifying that Environment Clearance was not required for Kalsa  Bhanduri project on Mahadayi river.

Javadekar’s letter nullifies his earlier stand of keeping in abeyance similar letter written to Karnataka government.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar in a press statement issued here has said that the party delegation will meet Governor over the issue.

He has not specified when the party delegation would meet the Governor.

Chodankar said “the letter from Prakash Javadekar makes it clear that he gives more importance to a junior minister in Karnataka than writing a letter in response to memorandum submitted by CM of Goa Pramod Sawant.”

“It’s another betrayal of people of Goa by Minister Jawdekar, BJP and NDA  who chose the eve of XMAS to give a special gift to Goa,” he said.

“Congress party expects a point to point rebuttal by the CM Goa on this letter by Jawdekar and demands an explanation why the Jawdekar responded to a Karnataka minister and dismissed the Goa CM,” he said.

Chodankar said that the development clearly that BJP and NDA can not be trusted anymore in Goa and Congress party would see to it that this Government standing with crutches of opportunist  defectors  is rejected by the people of Goa.

“It’s a real insult for the people of Goa who feel betrayed once again. Now it is very much clear that CM Dr. Sawant has sold Goa to Karnataka by surrendering himself to dictate of BJP central leadership,” he added.

“People of Goa feels betrayed by our own CM and by Goa BJP leaders. We will not allow this to happen at any cost,” the Congress leader said.
