Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar has hit a controversy after showing COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy.
State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the persons like Chodankar should shun the negative mentality towards COVID-19 vaccination.
On Thursday, Chodankar, while addressing a press conference, had challenged claim of BJP-led government about the 100 per cent coverage of eligible population with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The Congress leader had admitted that he and his family had not taken the vaccine as they have “certain doubts” about it.
Responding to the statement, Sawant told reporters that the world has accepted COVID-19 vaccine and hence there is no scope for any doubt.
“He (Chodankar) should be todl that unless we can the vaccine, we cannot fight back coronavirus. This kind of negative mentality will not help vaccination,” Sawant said.
The chief minister added that Chodankar should not try to play politics over vaccination.
