Panaji: Congress party on Friday demanded inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged involvement of Goa DGP Jaspal Singh in the unauthorised partial demolition of a house at Assagao in North Goa.

Addressing a press conference in Panaji, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar demanded that DGP Jaspal Singh be relieved of his charge or should be asked to proceed on a long leave.

He also demanded that all the police officers whose involvement is found in this case should be suspended and entire case should be probed by a Retired High Court Judge.

Reiterating the demand of CBI inquiry, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao told reporters that the entire case indicates that there is total collapse of law and order. “The chief minister should also take the responsibility,” he said.
Alemao said that the Congress party, during the upcoming Assembly session, will ensure that the state government comes with the stringent laws to protect the land in Goa.
