Fatorda: Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has demanded that CM Dr. Pramod Sawant should “check out immediately from his position as Home Minister” following the escape of an accused, assisted by a constable, from the Crime Branch.
In a post on his Twitter handle, Sardesai said that the accused “gets out of the lock-up like checking out from a hotel, excellent customer service from Goa Police.”
“It’s absolutely shocking the way in which the prime accused in the land grab case strolled out of the Crime Branch lock-up, just when the ED started looking into the land grab,” he said.
“Everyone is aware of the highest level of political interference in the Police Department, and such hospitality wouldn’t have been possible without the green signal from the very top,” Sardesai added.
“The audacity of this incident can only point to the utter disarray and indiscipline in our law and order system, and the free-for-all culture of the Home Ministry,” he said.
Sardesai said the CM should stop extending the Atithi Devo Bhava principle to criminals in the state’s custody, and he would be doing a great service to #Goa if he also checks out immediately from his position as Home Minister.
