CM Pramod Sawant assures Ribandar Health Committee of 24×7 medical facilities at old Ribandar hospital

A delegation of the Ribandar Health Care Committee led by local Corporator Rupesh Halankar today met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to discuss their demand that a full fledged Health Centre be set up at the Old Ribandar Hospital. Chief Minister assured

the delegation that 24×7 health and medicare facilities would be soon set up at the Old Ribandar Hospital.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues urged the Chief Minister that in public interest a full fledged Health Centre at the Old
Ribandar Hospital should come under the supervision and management of the Goa Medical College.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues pointed out to the Chief Minister that the Ribandar hospital was Asia’s first medical school established on 13th December 1867 having a very glorious history and that this priceless heritage structure needs to be preserved at all cost and that we need to maintain the history of the hospital by restoring a fully fledged State of the art medical centre at the Hospital with all possible health care facilities.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues also drew the attention
of the Chief Minister that besides catering to the health needs of the very densely populated Ribandar, the medical centre at the Old Ribandar Hospital
would benefit the residents of neighboring Old Goa, Corlim, Divar, Chorao, Merces and Chimbel.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues requested the Chief Minister to ensure that for setting up health and medical care services at Ribandar there should be no paucity of funds.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues sought that medical services at the Old Ribandar Hospital should start with a full-fledged 24×7 Casualty unit and that other medical facilities could be added in stages to ensure that the old Ribandar hospital becomes a full-fledged hospital.
