Panaji: Council of Social Justice and Peace (CSJP) has asked its faithful to have eco-friendly approach during religious programmes and festivities.
In a circular issued, CSJP has appealed faithful to use only eco-friendly material and avoid non-biodegradable and toxic materials.
It has asked members to avoid single-use plastic like disposable plastic-coated paper plates, tetra-packs and straws while serving refreshments during home-visitation for events like month’s mind, anniversaries, church meetings, seminars and other occasions.
“You all know that plastic is non-biodegradable and toxic,” the circular mentioned.
The Church body has advised people to donate the money they save on not purchasing polluting decor to Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, for undertaking various initiatives.
It has also urged the Church leaders to work collectively to educate people and motivate them to use eco-friendly items.
