Bicholim : At a time when Goa is witnessing a tsunami of COVID cases, primary healthcare provider CHC Bicholim in collaboration with the Collectorate Bicholim and IMA Bicholim recently launched a COVID-19 care sentre in Keshav Sewa Sadhna premises. The new facility will have 71 beds, 10 oxygen concentrators, 10 oxygen cylinders and doctors to provide round the clock treatment to the patients.
The centre currently houses high risk patients with diabetes, hypertension among others. Till today 24 patients were needing oxygen cylinders and 15 patients on oxygen concentrator. Out of which, six patients were referred to higher centres after stabilised with starting oxygen and steroids and blood thinners .
“We are happy that we are collaborating with the Collectorate Bicholim and IMA Bicholim to provide high quality treatment for COVID in a peripheral setting. This new COVID centre is a treatment and isolation centre for the people who are affected with the coronavirus. In this centre, CHC Bicholim is bringing its healthcare expertise and manage the day to day operations. This move will help us fulfilling our commitment of providing non-stop COVID care to serve the large population in Bicholim and adjoining areas in the fight against the pandemic,” said Dr Medha Salkar, Health Officer, CHC Bicholm.
Dr Gaurish Palav intensivist and dr shekhar salkar Oncosurgeon from ima bicholim give specialised cover to Ayush drs and medical officers of CHC.
The logistics of medical equipment like refilling of cylinders and food is arranged by Mamletdar Mr Pandit , Deputy Collector Mr Waigankar and incident commander Mr Gadkar with the help of Talathy and police .
