Calangute: Calangute police has arrested five people for accepting bets on the ongoing IPL Cricket matches, through their network in the coastal state.
Calangute Police arrested five persons, all from Rajasthan, for accepting bets on the IPL match by setting up their office in a villa in the beach village of Candolim.
Police spokesman said that the accused Raju Singh, 25, Mohit Kumar, 21, Ravi Mamtani, 30, Suraj Soni, 28 and Sagar Rathore, 28 were arrested after they were caught red-handed while accepting the bets.
During the raid cash amount of Rs 95,000, nine mobile phones, two laptops were also seized by the police. All the accused were booked under section 3 and 4 of Goa Public Gambling Act.
Further investigation is carried out by PSI Viraj Naik under the supervision of PI Nolasco Raposo and overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim Shri Edwin Colaco and SP North Shri Utkrisht Prasoon.
The raid was conducted by team comprising of PI Nolasco Raposo, PSI Vikas Deykar, Police Constables Vinay Shrivastav, Suresh Naik, Driver Sunil Mhalsekar.
