Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party’s core committee has recommended only one name, that is of its Goa unit President Sadanand Tanavade, for the post of Rajya Sabha MP.
The post is falling vacant later this month, ending the tenure of Vinay Tendulkar.
Sources confirmed that the meeting unanimously resolved the name of Sadanand Tanavde as the party’s candidate. With 33 MLAs by its side, the BJP candidate will have an upper hand in the contest.
While the formal announcement on the name is yet to come, sources stated that Tanavade’s name was cleared by the central leadership during his recent visit to the national capital.
