Panaji: Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday assured that the BJP will find out solution for the current crisis faced by the mining industry in Goa as soon as the party comes to power.
Addressing a press conference in Panaji, Prabhu said that the Central government is concerned about the mining industry, considering the social cost incurred since its closure.
“We will try to resume the mining industry as soon as possible, once we are voted to power,” Prabhu told reporters claiming that he was well aware about the problems faced by mining dependents.
“New government will work towards finding solution towards the mining issue considering social cost attached to its closure,” he said.
Prabhu said that the solution for resumption of mining activity could be legal, administrative or legislative.
The minister said that he has been following up the matter with then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. “You will not believe how many times, I had discussed the matter with Parrikar,” he said.
