Margao: The reluctance of the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to disclose the amount of expenditure to be incurred on the inaugural Function of 60th Goa Liberation Day, 19th December 2020 is vindication of the charges levelled by Congress Party of corruption in selection of Event Management Agency, South Goa Congress president Joseph Dias.
“The corrupt and insensitive BJP Government has issued a work order of Rs 3.10 crores for the Event Management Agency which was fixed with the instruction of top functionary of the BJP Party,” Dias charged.
Dias condemned that it is unfortunate that the Freedom Fighters who participated in the Liberation Struggle have not been invited for the function, while the Chief Minister himself has announced that 400 invitations are sent to select persons.
“We demand that the Chief Minister must make public the list of invitees demanded Joseph Dias. We contacted various Freedom Fighters and their families across the State, and all of them confirmed that they had neither received intimation nor invitation of the function,” Dias said.
“Today, the Chief Minister has revealed that cultural groups from all 12 talukas will be performing in the entertainment programme to be presented before the President of India. The Government must make public the details of the payments made to the performing artistes. Let the people of Goa know how much amount from the whopping Rs 3.10 crores is utilized on the cultural performances which is the main focus of the event,” said Joseph Dias.
Informing that the tender document at Sr. No 6 & 7 had a mention of dinner arrangement for 800 people with seating arrangement comprising of 40 round tables and 200 covered chairs Dias slammed the CM and said, “The Chief Minister today has stated that there is no dinner organized during the function. This clears that the said item was included in the tender just to inflate the overall tender cost.”
“Till date not even a single hoarding is erected across Goa on 60 years of Goa Liberation. The Chief Minister must provide documentary evidence with proof where and when these hoardings are displayed,” Dias questioned. He further stated that Clause 27 mentions of 6 numbers of hoardings to be displayed at prominent places.
“The insensitive and corrupt BJP Government is making fortunes from the sacrifices of the Freedom Fighters. The People of Goa are watching and will soon teach them a lesson,” the Congress leader said.
