Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that they are confident of winning the upcoming Goa legislative assembly election on a majority of seats on their own.

BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade told reporters that the party is not depending on the division of votes to win the seats.

“When we face elections, we think that it is BJP versus the rest of others,” he said.

Tanavade’s statement came hours after Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party announced its alliance with Trinamool Congress Party for upcoming Goa polls.

BJP had in the past admitted that they were in talks with MGP for a pre-poll alliance.

“We are always prepared for the elections. We face elections to win it,” he said.

Tanavade said that the results of the past had indicated that even if all the opposition parties come together, BJP wins the election.

“We have seen all the parties coming together for the Zilla Panchayat election. We won 33 out of 50 seats,” he said.

Tanavade said that similarly, during Municipal elections, party won 10 out 12 municipal councils. “In the 2022 election, we will win on our own whether there is alliance or not,” he said.
