Avinash Jadhav, a social worker and a journalist from Bicholim, joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday in the presence of the party’s Goa convenor, Rahul Mhambre.
Jadhav claimed that there are many Dalit-specific schemes. Many of them, however, remain on paper. I have been working in the social sector for several years; now, with my entrance into politics, I can gain more support for my cause.
While addressing the media at the party’s Mapusa office he said, “It is because of the AAP that the Dalit community’s voice has grown stronger; they have been given representation. It is the only party working for the rights of Dalits. AAP national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal recently announced a mega play under the banner of ‘Ambedkar tera sapna, Kejriwal kargea pura’. As a result of the work they have done in Delhi for the past six years, I joined their party”.
Jadhav challenged CM Pramod Sawant to show all the work his government had done for the Mhar community in the state and how many people had taken advantage of the schemes designated for them.
AAP Goa convenor Rahul Mhambre said, “after 60 years of liberation, the state is still lagging in terms of providing basic facilities. On the contrary, the AAP which has been in Delhi for the last six years have brought a tremendous change in Delhi. Be it education infrastructure or mohalla clinics, every project has been appreciated by all over the world”.
“In the last 60 years Congress ruled for 27 years and MGP and BJP ruled for 15 years but haven’t done anything for the betterment of the state. The BJP lost its principles. Impressed by Kejriwal’s vision for the state people from different sectors have been joining the party”, he added.
