Panaji: Day after a student from Afghanistan was stabbed near Goa University campus, his fellow colleagues have demanded police protection fearing for their lives.

24-year-old Afghan student Mathihulla Aria, who was pursuing M.Com course at Goa University’s Goa Business School, was injured in the attack on Sunday evening.

In a press conference held on Tuesday, a Afghanistan student Abdul Basit said that Aria, was part of those 35 Afghan students, who are pursuing  various courses in Goa University under Indian Council of Cultural Relation (ICCR).

Basit said that they are not aware as who the attackers were but Aria, has been victim of hate crime.

“We are not feeling safe in Goa anymore. We feel threatened. There is threat to our lives too. We want University to ensure that police protection is given to all the students,” Basit said.
