Panaji: AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Friday reiterated before the local court that he will not make any statement against Sulakshana Sawant in connection with the defamation case filed against him by her.

The defamation case filed by Sawant against Singh came up for hearing before the local court in Bicholim on Friday.

Pralhad Paranjape, the lawyer representing Sawant, said that the matter was heard by the judge on Friday. “The defendant has sought time to file a reply to the injunction application filed by the petitioner. The defendant has also extended the statement they had made earlier before the court (that they will not make any statement against Sawant),” he said.

Paranjape further stated that the petitioner has been assured by the defendant that no defamatory statement would be made against Sawant and that the statements she had objected to would not be repeated.

The AAP leader had earlier addressed a press conference in Delhi, during which he accused Sawant of being involved in the infamous cash-for-jobs scam.

Paranjape mentioned that the court has adjourned the matter to March 7.

Advocate Surel Tilve, representing Singh, stated that his client could not file a reply before the court as he is a star campaigner busy with Delhi elections. Tilve assured that the reply would be filed on the next date of the hearing.

Sawant had filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against Singh in December 2024. The case was first heard on January 10, 2025, during which Singh stated he would not make any statements against her.
