Goa Task Force meet to discuss Omicron situation during festive season

Panaji: Goa government’s task force on COVID-19 held it’s meeting on Friday to discuss the situation amidst emerging Omicron scare in the country.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who chaired the meeting, said that the Task Force has recommended to the tourism stakeholders to take utmost precautions during Christmas and New Year celebrations to avoid spread of Omicron in the state.

He said that the state will install genome sequencing machine next month, which will help in diagnosing the samples of COVID-19 patients.

Sawant said that the machine would be installed in Goa Medical College and Hospital.

The chief minister said that the state government has decided not to impose any curbs during the festive season but has appealed the people not to violate covid appropriate behaviour.

He said that the State level Expert Committee on COVID-19 will hold its meeting on Monday for preparedness of the state to fight back the pandemic situation.
