10 men who entered Goa travelling on barge taken to medical facility

Vasco: Plugging a major loophole that could have added to COVID-19 outbreak, Harbour Coastal Police stopped ten people from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh who was about to enter the state.

A team led by Police Inspector Siddhanth Shirodkar acted when it was brought to their notice that ten people had travelled on two different barges into Goa, without having valid permit and also sans any medical check up.

Captain of Port had given permission for both the barges to enter the state, but there was no clarity about the crew members who are from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

All the ten people were taken for medical check and kept in quarantine facility after the police acted swiftly.

The incident has exposed a major loophole that can add to the pandemic.
