Panaji: The BJP in Goa on Friday said that the upcoming Zilla Panchayat election should not be considered as ‘semi-final’ for 2022 Goa assembly elections.

BJP Goa Chief Sadanand Tanavade told a press conference in Panaji that the party will contest in all the 50 constituencies during March 22 ZP polls. He said in some constituencies party will go for “adjustments”, without fielding the candidate on party ticket.

“Every election was different issue. The issues for ZP election are also different from rest of the elections. That is why it is wrong to say that this is semi-final for 2022 Goa assembly election,” Tanavade said.

Goa will go for assembly election in the year 2022, the last one being held in the year 2017.

The BJP Goa chief said that the party takes all the elections seriously and would fight ZP polls with all the might.

“We are sure to win on majority seats and have our control over North Goa and South Goa Zilla Panchayats,” he said.
