Margao — VDIYA Integrated Development for Youth and Adults(VIDYA) in association with Rajaram Institute of Industrial Technology (RIIT) launched Digital Empowerment Program for youth, to provide IT skill development courses and employability to the underserved communities of Margao and other parts of Goa.
The inaugural ceremony was honoured by the chief guest Mr. Digambar Kamat, Hon’ble MLA Margao Constituency & Ex-Chief Minister and he inaugurated the Digital Empowerment Program Center at the premises of RIIT. On launching the program, he spoke about the importance of Education and the necessity of employability skills to the local youth of Goa. He was glad to know about the initiatives of VIDYA and assured that he will be providing full support to the VIDYA activities.
Guest of Honor Mr. Dinar Bhatkar, Managing Director, DCS Techno Services Pvt. Ltd also insisted on how can we make the youth of GOA industry ready inline with National Educational Policy (NEP 2020). He stressed on the need of empowering woman to bring them to the mainstream decision makers in the family. Mr. Damodhar Shirodkar, Chairman, Margao Municipal Council spoke about training the Class IV employees with digital skills through VIDYA.
Dr. Pandurang Rajaram Naik, Executive Board Member, VIDYA Goa said that VIDYA has come up with a great idea to motivate younger generations, women with IT Skills which will lead to employability. He conveyed that with this partnership, he will take local leader’s help to achieve the mission of Mrs. Rashmi Misra.
Mrs. Rashmi Misra, Founder President, VIDYA in her inaugural address stated that ‘Working out of Goa has always been on her minds. She started VIDYA Goa 20 years ago in a very small scale and she is happy to see that it is getting a new life. Kudos to Goa to be among the top 5 states in India with regards to literacy and education has always been a priority in Goa. VIDYA always believed in bringing about social change by empowering underprivileged children, youth and women through education.’
Dr. Nayan Dabholkar, Vice President, VIDYA Mumbai & Goa said that VIDYA believes, the right education and right skills will provide the youth with enough confidence, and self-faith to face the challenges in the highly competitive job markets. This will provide a sustainable livelihood to the youth and their families.
Ms. Priyanka Mathur, COO, VIDYA Mumbai & Goa spoke about the VIDYA Mumbai programs and their impact on the communities. She further added the steps VIDYA has taken for the transformation of communities. Ms. Mehala Nagarajah, Director – Digital Programs, VIDYA India took the audience through the journey of the Digital Empowerment Program since its inception, its achievements, placement rate and the upcoming plan for Goa.
The event was well attended by the students of Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, ITI Borda, Margao and Self Help Group from Margao with well-wishers, friends and parents.
