Two passengers from Delhi train test positive, more tests underway

Panaji: Two passengers who arrived in Goa by a train from Delhi have tested positive for COVID-19 infection, hiking the state’s tally of active patients to 15.

A senior state health department official said that out of total 323 samples drawn from the passengers that arrived by Rajdhani Train from Delhi, 129 were tested.

“Two passengers have tested positive for TrueNat testing (rapid testing) and their samples have been sent for final confirmation at virology lab of Goa medical college and hospital,” he said.

He said that rest of the samples would be tested tonight.

All the passengers after alighting from the train at Madgao Railway station were taken to District Hospital for testing, and later quarantined at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

With the latest two more additions, the number of COVID-19 infected active cases has rose up to 15 in the state.

Earlier during the day, five cases for COVID-19 infection was detected, who were shifted to the designated hospital for treatment.

“Of these two have travelled from West Bengal, one each from Haridwar, Mumbai and Ratnagiri. Currently, they are managed at ESI hospital, Margao (COVID Hospital),” a state government spokesman said.

“Their condition is stable,” he added.
