Panaji: The stakeholders of tourism industry has said that such festival generates revenue for the state.

Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), an umbrella organisation of tourism stakeholders, said that such event generates revenue that could be around Rs 200 crore.
TTAG President Jack Sukhija on Wednesday said that Festivals and events, including music festivals, are the fastest-growing part of the tourism industry.

“A well-organized festival can unlock economic value and support local communities,” he said.

He said that with 30,000 to 40,000 participants for the event, the generated revenue could be around Rs. 200 crores.

Sukhija, however, said that the proper planning and infrastructure is required to make the festival successful without affecting the local population.

Sanjay Amonkar, Director General of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that Sunburn has significantly boosted North Goa’s tourism economy.

He, however, said that the required protocols involving local stakeholders should be ensured to make the event successful.

Amonkar said that the local businesses are one of the biggest beneficiaries of festivals like Sunburn, with clubs, food stalls and vendors selling party props thriving during the festival week.

“The influx of tourists also boosts demand for transportation, including private cabs, car rentals and rented bikes, providing locals with a significant income boost,” he added.
