Panaji: With 117 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths, Goa’s coronavirus graph continued to go upward even as State government has fast paced its decision to treat the patients with plasma therapy.
As per the health department’s bulletin, three patients including 80-year-old woman, 31-year-old and 75-year-old men succumbed to COVID-19 infection on Saturday rising the tally of deaths due to twelve in the state.
During the day, 117 people were tested positive for COVID-19 infection while 81 were sent back home from different covidcare facilities after their recovery.
The department said that out of 5637 samples tested on Saturday, 1886 are negative while 3634 reports are awaited.
State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the plasma therapy treatment would soon be a reality in the state.
“The apheresis machine for plasma therapy has arrived at Goa Medical College and Hospital and is ready for installation. I am closely monitoring the same along with Dean Dr S M Bandekar,” Rane said.
“We shall be commissioning the Apheresis machine at the earliest to start plasma therapy in the state for treatment of COVID-19,” he added.
