Margao: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has said that with Zuari Indian Oil Tanking Limited claiming source of petroleum product leakage is corroded pipe, total failure of Authorities to monitor the operations & lack of periodic maintainance stands exposed.
Alemao has demanded comprehensive Audit by Central Agency before restart of Operations.
“Local Authorities including Disaster Management Authority are completely exposed with this incident.People have lost faith in these agencies. I reiterate that Mormugao Taluka continues to be Ticking Bomb and only an audit by Central Agency should allow the restart of Operations,” he said.
“Government is conspicuously silent on Compensation to be paid to the affected families. ZIOTL needs to be heavily penalised for destroying environment and creating health hazard,” he added.
