The Congress-ruled panel Sarpanch, Jennifer Elizabeth de Oliveira, is accused of engaging in revengeful and vindictive politics by obstructing development works proposed by opposition ward members.
The Sarpanch allegedly refuses to sign developmental files for opposition wards, even when resolutions for the projects were adopted in meetings chaired and proposed by her. This has been described as a grave injustice to the ward members and the villagers.
The grievances have been reported to the Panchayat Minister, the Block Development Officer (BDO), the Directorate of Panchayats (DOP), and the Panchayat Secretary at the Secretariat in Porvorim. Based on these complaints, a memorandum has been issued to the Village Panchayat Secretary of Santa Cruz, instructing necessary action.
Ex-Deputy Sarpanch and Panchayat Member of Ward No. 3, Inacio Domnic Pereira, has claimed that the Congress-ruled panel Sarpanch is unfit to hold office and should step down for failing to treat all Santa Cruz villagers equally.
