Sanguem: Sanguem police are setting up classic examples of idiotic behavior. After its police sub inspector Sudin Redkar gave clean chit to himself in custodial attack case, his superior Inspector Sagar Ekoskar has created another milestone in stupidity.

The case in question is about Amit Naik, a residence of Neturlim in Sanguem, who was allegedly beaten up badly by Sanguem police in their custody on March 25, 2018. Amit had to be admitted to Goa medical college where he taking treatment for almost seven days for damage to his kidney.

The complaint filed by wife of Amit mentions that her husband was assaulted by local men  including Abhijit Desai, Ulhas Gawas, Prakash Bhagat along with Police Sub Inspector Sudin Redkar and Police Constable Somesh Desai after arresting him.

Redkar had investigated complaint against himself and had given himself a clean chit, a copy of which was submitted to the complainant.

And if this was not enough, Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar has created another height. In a communication to Amit, he has not only tried to shield PSI Redkar claiming that he signed on behalf of him, but also closed the criminal investigation into criminal assault without taking statement of the complainant, victim or anyone else.

“This is to inform you that necessary legal procedures has been carried out while arresting Amit Naik on March 25, 2018. The reply send to you by PSI Sudin Redkar in your complaint dated March 25, 2018 was on the behalf of undersigned,” Ekoskar has said, creating a major record of police audacity.

Adding to the height, justifying why PSI Redkar was asked to sign, Ekoskar says “since the undersigned (himself) was busy at Quepem Police Station and thereafter went to crime meeting at SP South Margao on April 03, 2018.”

This sounds like an April Fool, two days after the actual date.

Setting another example of audacity, Ekoskar has refused to investigate the criminal complaint of custodial assault claiming that the departmental inquiry against PSI Redkar is going on.

“It is further to inform you that Sunita Sawant, SDPO Vasco is conducting an independent enquiry into the complaint of yours and the undersigned and the PSI Redkar is no where involved in this enquiry and that your statement would recorded by an independent inquiry authority,” he has said.
