Panaji: Shiv Sena welcomes back Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to the State after his treatment in the USA. We wish him speedy recovery and all good health as he is all set to get into action from tomorrow onwards, Sena’s Goa spokesman Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik has said.
In a press statement released here, Naik has said: Sena is happy that chief minister has decided to hold cabinet meeting tomorrow without wasting any time and take a stock of the situation in the State. In his absence, there are several issues which are pending, with the state administration going to the lowest ebb.
The first and foremost issue that Parrikar should touch, is the solution for the mining crisis. Several lakh people are left in the lurch due to closure of the industry. The CAC or none of the BJP legislators could provide solution for the problem. The vague answers are being given by BJP leaders who have been bargaining for time in absence of Parrikar.
Sena hopes that Parrikar would apply his mind by taking all the stakeholders into confidence and provide solution so that the mining industry resumes in the state post-monsoons.
Another area where Parrikar should give his immediate attention is the law and order.
The police department has gone to the worst in his absence with likes of Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar assaulting the people in custody.
His arrogance is displayed in public due to which people have lost faith in the department. Parrikar should first take review of the law and order and law enforcement and ensure that such tainted police officer should be suspended and strict inquiry should be conducted in their misdeeds.
The third and most important front that Parrikar should look into is Power Supply. Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar is currently admitted in a hospital in Mumbai. Even in his presence the power situation had gone to low levels. First time in the history of post-liberation, the people had to come to the streets demanding power. Parrikar should ensure that the moles in the power department are removed and the supply should be made smooth.
There is a long list of wishes that Sena has, but we would like to restrict our request to this much. While wishing best health for Parrikar, we would also like to caution him that the people are watching his conduct. If he fails to provide solution for their problems, he would lose all the sympathy.
