Old Goa police on 16/03/2019 conducted a raid and arrested 06 persons who were found indulged in card gambling in open public place opposite HP Petrol pump, Old Goa, Tiswadi – Goa.
As per PI Jivba Dalvi information regarding card gambling being carried out in public place was received through reliable sources and accordingly a raiding team was formed and during the raid 06 persons were arrested and Rs. 21,800/- was seized along with other gambling articles.
The arrested persons are namely 1. Rajendra Pandurang Kerkar, age 44 yrs R/o Divar 2. Melvin S/o Michael Fernandes, age 30 yrs, R/o Corlim 3. Nagraj Kariappa Talwar, age 30 yrs, 4. Somendra Kumar age 25 yrs 5. Sameer Isaac Shaikh, age 27 yrs, all R/Old Goa Tiswadi- Goa and 6. Taleshwar Suraj Naik, age 32 yrs R/o Old Goa.
All accused persons have been arrested under section 11(2)(a) of Goa Daman & Diu Protective Gambling Act.
The staff of raiding party consisted of PI Jivba Dalvi ,Head constable Santosh Gawade, and other staff.
PI Jivba Dalvi has increased the surveillance and patrolling on Old Goa since taking charge last week and this drive will be continued.
