Panaji: Several low lying areas of the state were inundated on Monday as the coastal state witnessed heavy rains since wee hours of the day.

The water-logging near state’s apex health facility – Goa Medical College and Hospital – near here resulted in inconvenience to the patients. Few of the Ambulances carrying the patients were seen stranded on the way to the Hospital as the road was inundated.

Capital city of Panaji’s Patto area witnessed flood-like situation with vehicles wading through the water.

The Indian Metrological Observatory (IMD) has given weather warning to the coastal state. On Monday, the IMD has predicted “enhanced rainfall activity over North and South Goa in the coming 3-4 days.”

The department has predicted very heavy rainfall at isolated places over both districts on Monday. Short intense spells and winds gusting to around 40 kilometres per hour is likely along with the rainfall spells.

The IMD has adviced fishermen “not to venture along and off South Maharashtra-Goa-Karnataka coasta for five days from Monday onwards.” “The warnings are issued based on latest observations and numerical weather prediction model guidance,” the department has said.
