Panaji: Escalating their tirade against MGP, a senior Goa Forward Party functionary has demanded that Dipak Dhavalikar-led party should quit the government, if they want to contest upcoming by-elections.
Goa Forward Party’s Vice President Durgadas Kamat participating in a debate on Prudent Channel said that MGP should walk out of the government, if they want to contest upcoming Assembly by-elections in constituencies including Shiroda.
He said that the by-election should be looked upon as an opportunity by coalition partners to provide stability to Manohar Parrikar led government.
The debate was participated by Congress Spokesman Sunil Kawathankar, MGP Working President Narayan Sawant and BJP Spokesman Dattaprasad Naik.
“The government was formed under leadership of Manohar Parrikar wherein different parties came together for the sake of Goa. So now when by-elections are happening, the ruling coalition should win them and for that all the partners should work together,” Kamat said.
Referring to MGP’s move to fight against the official candidate, Kamat said it is not right to weaken Parrikar when he is already unwell.
“All the alliance partners should be together and united,” he said.
GFP leader said that they know how to keep the government stable even without MGP. “We can keep the government stable. Vijai sardesai knows how to maintain stability of the government,” he said.
When asked about Shiroda, he said that the party has not given up its claim on Shiroda seat but will not contest upcoming by-election.
