Mandrem: Mandrem police have arrested a Beach shack worker and is interrogating his co-staff following murder of a local man at Arambol beach on Sunday. Goa police spokesman said that Amar Bandekar (39) died after accused Surender Kumar (Himachal Pradesh), along with the other staff, assaulted him when he objected to putting chairs on the beach beyond the prescribed area.

The incident happened on Sunday when the victim was walking on Arambol beach in North Goa, around 6:45 pm.

The spokesman said that the accused, along with other staff members of the beach shack, had a verbal altercation with the deceased over the issue of shifting the chairs, which were arranged on the shore of Arambol beach.

He said that the quarrel escalated further, and in a fit of anger, the accused assaulted the victim with slaps, kicks, and a sharp, hard object, causing him serious bodily injuries.
