Is the Electricity Department Responsible for the Electrocution of a Youth in Davorlim?

Margao: Aniket Naik climbed up to put up decorations for the palanquin procession of Shree Datta Maharaj Temple at Davorlim when he came into contact with an exposed high-tension electric wire and was electrocuted, dying on the spot.

Eyewitnesses, who described the horror of the incident, stated that the youth was part of a group decorating the area for the annual palanquin procession of Shree Datta Maharaj.

The youth, in his early 20s, was known as a skilled cricket player. When he climbed up, he was electrocuted almost immediately, becoming stuck before falling from a height. He was rushed to the South Goa District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Electricity Department’s Role

Locals have claimed that the Electricity Department had been working in the area, leaving wires exposed in a dangerous manner. They allege that no precautions were taken, and that an incident like this was bound to happen.
