Panaji: Reacting to his expulsion for six years, MGP General Secretary Lavu Mamlatdar said that he had sabotaged the plans of some leaders in the party to drop Manohar Ajgaonkar from the cabinet.

He said that his letter to Speaker, stating that signature of General Secretary is mandatory on any communication from the party, has saved Ajgaonkar from being dropped, which was plotted by some leaders from the party.

Asked why he has developed rift with Dhavalikars for long now, Mamlatdar said that Dhavalikar had planned to merge the party for which he had opposed. “They were against me because I defeated their purpose of merging the party,” he said.

He said that there is no rift in the party and also he will be approaching the court against the decision of Central Committee.

Mamlatdar said that Dipak Dhavalikar is not the main culprit in the entire episode. “Third person is a culprit and I don’t want to name him,” he added.

He said that the party is suffering setback under the leadership of Dhavalikar. “When we did ground study in Mandrem constituency, many people told us that they will not vote for the party till Dhavalikars are in it,” he said.
