Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Wednsday said that till now there is no positive case of Coronavirus in the state. He was refuting the initial reports about a foreigner testing positive at Goa medical college and hospital.

Rane said that the information was received by Dr Edwino of Goa Medical college (nodal officer), but it is a hoax news and people should not be doing such hoax by claiming that the call was from the lab.

“It is absolutely wrong news. We are waiting to verify. There is absolutely no reason to panic. The final report has not yet come, we are waiting for the report,” he said in a voice audio released through various media groups.

“As far as any information is given it would be given through Dr Utkarsh Betkikar (virologist) as per protocol. We are also trying to locate the call from which Dr Edwin received the call,” he said.

“This is highly act of mischievousness and creating panic in the state of Goa. We are ready from all sides. I will checking the screening facilities at all the places from tonight along with Secretary Health and Dean of Goa medical college and trying to locate the number from where the call was received. This is absolutely hoax call,” he added.
