Hathras row: Vijai Sardesai condemns UP police act

Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief Vijai Sardesai condemned the act of Uttar Pradesh police in manhandling of national leaders, stating that the series of events happening in Uttar Pradesh are undemocratic.
Adding that there is no place of such authoritarianism in the country, Sardesai used the has tag ‘shame on UP police’.
“What’s happening in #UP is the exact opposite of democracy. Having failed miserably in protecting its women from murderous assaults, #UPPolice now acts swiftly to silence voices that rise to condemn it.Such authoritarianism has no place in India & is condemnable !#ShameOnUPGovt,” Sardesai tweeted.
The Hathras rape incident in Uttar Pradesh has sparked anger across the country with citizens demanding justice for the victim. Indian National Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and secretary Priyanka Gandhi were on Thursday stopped on their way to meet the victim’s family members. It was reported that Rahul Gandhi was manhandled by the Uttar Pradesh police.
