Porvorim: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the House that considering the cases of accidents due to stray cattle, the agreement would be signed with all the municipalities and panchayat bodies.

Sawant said that the owner does not come forward to stake claim on the cattle unless he is killed in the accident. “Sometimes, they come on the street and claim for money from the vehicle owner, when cattle dies,” he said.

The chief minister said that those cows which are registered under Kamdhenu scheme could be identified as they have a microchip. Sawant said that if any farmer is found leaving his cattle on the road, purchased under Kamadhenu scheme, then he would be blacklisted.

The issue was raised by Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai who demanded stringent step to curb these accidents. Sardesai pointed out that person who is involved in accident is fined by the police.
He demanded that the cattle owner should be held responsible.
