Panaji: Goa Tourism department’s empowered committee on Monday gave provisional No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the organizers of Sunburn EDM festival to hold their event on December 28 -30 at Vagator.

The committee led by chief minister Pramod Sawant and comprising of State tourism minister Rohan Khaunte gave provisional NOC for the organizers to host the event at Vagator.

Khaunte said that the organizers had initially sought permission to host the event till December 31 but considering the business interests of the local shack owners and other stakeholders, the same was denied.

“We are of the firm opinion that December 31 is meant for the local shack owners and other stakeholders to conduct business. We cannot allow someone like Sunburn to interfere in their festivities,” the tourism minister said.

He also said that the Sunburn has been permitted to host the event from 4pm till 10 pm, and they cannot continue post the permitted timings.

Khaunte said that the provisional NOC has been granted as the organizers are yet to give them the “no due certificate” from other departments and also the permission from the land owners to conduct the event.
