Bambolim: The District Administration has now initiated a fresh move to remove illegal encroachment in the government property at the main entrance gate of Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

Deputy Collector Bhagwant Karmali has issued notice of meeting to the concerned authorities on March 1 for “removal of persons in unauthorised occupations of government property for selling unhygienic cooked food, fruits etc. infront of GMC main gate.”

What is interesting is that St Cruz Village Panchayat had made similar move in the past but could not proceed further as no authorities came in their support.

The members of the panchayat had to face the wrath of these illegal occupants.

The deputy collect has now called for a meeting on March 01 a 12 pm in order to review and discuss about the encroachment in government property in front of GMC.

ENCROACHMENT CONTINUES

Despite government spending crores of rupees to rehabilitate the kiosks near GMC, the encroachment has continued.

Five kiosks which are sanctioned under Deendayal scheme are illegally occupying the space, affecting the business of genuine vendors.

The authorities have failed to take action against them even as local panchayat seems to be looking at the violation helplessly.
