Panaji: The chief minister would be the pro-chancellor on the state run university and the Bill introducing such a designation would be tabled during next Session of the Assembly, the House was told on Thursday.
Goa University currently has Governor as Vice Chancellor by default, while there is no representation to the chief minister on this apex educational body.
State chief minister Pramod Sawant told the House that the Bill will be moved during upcoming Session designating the chief minister as pro-chancellor of Goa University.
“This is necessary because state government should have hold over the university to address various issues,” he said.
Sawant told the assembly that the vacancies in Goa university will have domicile certificate as a compulsory clause for ‘C’ class and clerical posts.
“But in the other posts, if they don’t get the required manpower in Goa, then they will have to look outside Goa. The relaxation of domicile certificate would be given to the post of professor and above it,” the chief minister said.
