Panaji: Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) on Friday demanded that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade should seek clarification from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his statement on Mhadei.
In the past, Shah addressing a public rally at Belagavi (Karnataka) had said that Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant had given consent to divert water of River Mhadei. Sawant had refused to have given any such consent.
“Now that Amit Shah is coming to Goa to address a public rally, CM Dr Pramod Sawant and BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade should seek clarification from him on his statement,” TMC Joint Convener Samil Volvoikar told reporters in Panaji on Friday.
He said that CM and Tanavade should show “guts” to demand a clarification.
Shah would be addressing a public meeting at Farmagudi (Goa) on April 16.
Volvoikar also said that it is shameful that BJP Goa leaders were campaigning for Karnataka election for their party. “BJP is contesting the election on the issue of Mhadei and it is shameful that our leaders are campaigning in Karnataka,” he said.
