Panaji: Goa Police will gift a mask in the capital city of Panaji, if anyone is found going around without a facemask, after fining him for the violation.
Corporation of City of Panaji Deputy Mayor Vasant Agashikar on Sunday gifted face masks to Panaji police station, which would be distributed to the people who would be fined for violating the norms.
“We have been creating awareness about COVID-19 amongst the people. We don’t like fining people, but it is our duty to enforce the law,” said Panaji Police Inspector Sudesh Naik.
He said that the people have been ignoring the warnings put up across the city, though we are going through a second wave of the coronavirus.
Naik said that the police after fining the violators for not wearing mask, cannot let them continue with uncovered face. “We will be distributing these masks to them, so that they don’t continue spreading the virus,” he said.
Agashikar said that the CCP will be joining hands with the police in ensuring that the covid protocols are not violated in the capital city.
