Four out of seven dams in Goa are having water more than 50 per cent capacity

Panaji: The State Water Resources Department has said that out of the seven major dams in the coastal state, four are more than 50 per cent full mark.

In a media statement released here on Tuesday, the department has said that while four out of seven are having more than 50 per cent full capacity, rest three are having less than 50 per cent.

According to the data, the reservoirs which are full above 50 per cent of their capacity are Anjunem, Chapoli and Gaunem while the reservoirs which are less than 50 per cent of their storage capacity are Selaulim, Amthane and Panchwadi .

The department said that the Anjunem reservoir, which meets the water requirement of Sattari and parts of Bicholim taluka in North Goa, is 62.6 per cent full while, Chapoli reservoir, which meets the water requirement of Canacona taluka, is full at 59.4 per cent.
The department said that the Gaunem reservoir is full at 56.6 per cent, while Tillari reservoir is filled at 91.1 per cent.

The Selaulim reservoir in Sanguem taluka, which meets the water requirement of most of South Goa districts is, 49.7 per cent full while the Amthane reservoir, which provides water to Bardez , Pernem and Bicholim taluka (North Goa), is filled to 38.3 per cent.
The Panchwadi reservoir, which meets the water requirement of villages like Panchwadi and Shiroda is 39.9 per cent full.
