The recent imposition of fine of ₹1crore and ₹10,000 by the National Green Tribunal for every day’s delay in furnishing report on private forests is yet another instance that reflects the complete decay in the administration which is only blowing up tax payer’s money to pay cost of it’s incompetence said the Aam Aadmi Party.

Addressing media in the city today, AAP leader on environment Sidharth Karapurkar in the presence of Pradeep Padgaonkar and Valmiki Naik said that earlier it was the Indian Olympic Association which imposed a fine of 10 crores for delay in hosting national games. He informed that the party in a representation submitted to Forest Department has demanded that firstly the entire amount of the fine should be paid from the pocket of the forest minister and the concerned secretary and officers and secondly that the underhand dealings to amend the report to favour those with vested interest should be stopped. “This government has made a mess of everything. They are good at only playing politics and buying and selling of MLAs. They are bleeding the state exchequer and causing destruction of all that is left of Goa.” said Karapurkar terming the delay as nothing but yet another case of never ending satisfying greed. He said that Sawant Karapurkar Committee report was being reviewed for the sake of real estate barons who had descended in the state in a big way and was a scam bigger than the land conversion scam through introduction of section 16B in the TCP Act.
