Panaji: Port Minister Michael Lobo has accused Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte of inciting people in the name of COVID-19 in the state.
Lobo said that he wanted to file a police complaint against Khaunte for inciting people, but did not do so, because he is his colleague in the assembly.
Khaunte and Lobo are in war of words over COVID-19 with the former blaming the latter of having quarantine tourism during the lockdown period.
“Khaunte is trying to divide the people. He is inciting the people in the name of COVID-19. I would request him not to play politics at this crucial time,” Lobo said.
“You never know, coronavirus can happen to anyone, it can happen to you, your wife, your family, my wife, my family. You might have to get quarantined in the same facilities which you are criticizing,” the minister said.
Lobo claimed that Khaunte who claims to be welcoming the Seafarers is criticizing the quarantine facilities selected for them.
“He is saying that we are encouraging quarantine tourism. We have given the facilities to quarantine the seafarers who have come here. The facilities are all across Goa including Calangute, Vasco, Pernem, Margao,” he said.
